Great Lazy Man's Jacket
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs large
I collect jackets like I collect ski boots like I collect skis. I bought this jacket for this winter season as my go-to resort jacket to throw on over a thin base layer, because truthfully I get lazy about wearing a ton of different layers when I'm skiing the resorts here in Utah. So far, after over a week of skiing in a range of conditions in Idaho and Utah, I must say I'm really impressed with the jacket.
I love the Windstopper material in the jacket -- it does its job extremely well. The fit is a bit generous, but it's very comfortable and leaves enough room to wear a down jacket insulation layer if I really need it. The hood actually fits over my helmet without being tight or restrictive, so kudos to Arc'teryx for that.
What don't I like? I wish they'd put in armpit vents, because skiing hard in warmer conditions will make this jacket heat up like a furnace. Also, I wish there was an interior pocket with a zipper. Other than that, I can't complain.
I won't be wearing this jacket for any uphill skiing trips, but I'll be wearing it a lot on those cool temp days bombing around the Utah resorts. Overall, it's a well crafted jacket that would be earning 6 stars from me if it had armpit zips and a zippered interior pocket.
