Cerium LT Down Jacket

Arc'teryx stuffed the Women's Cerium LT Down Jacket with a lofty 850-fill down and protective synthetic Coreloft insulation to give you the best of both worlds. Down insulation makes the Cerium lightweight and compressible to fit in the included stuff sack, while synthetic Coreloft is placed in moisture-prone spots like the shoulders, cuffs, and underarms for warmth even when wet. Arc'teryx coated the durable Arato shell with a DWR finish, so light drizzle and flurries can bead up and roll off, and the trim fit helps you layer a waterproof shell over this down jacket when the going gets soggy.

  • A lightweight insulator for chilly days in the mountains
  • Durable face fabric is water-resistant
  • 850-fill down has a high warmth-to-weight ratio
  • Synthetic insulation strategically placed in moisture-prone spots
  • Included stuff sack ensures quick and easy packing

light and great fit for my body type

  • Fit: True to size

Great women's gear is so hard to find when you are shaped like me: busty with muscular shoulders. I tried probably 10 different light to medium weight down jackets this season, and this Cerium jacket is THE GUY. The great thing is that it has enough room for me to layer under it, but because the back of the jacket has some darts, I don't look like I am wearing a box like I do in mens gear. Packs up small, super light, and works great with my layers, I wish I hadn't messed around with the other 10 cheaper jackets before just buying this one. Torso is on the short side; works for me, if you are tall and lithe, this isn't the right jacket.

Like wearing air

Only a little bit warmer. I have had this jacket for two years and taken in backpacking and it works great for summer and fall dry camping. If it got very cold, I have a vest I need to throw over it. I have very long arms and I love that the sleeves are long enough. Almost impossible to find in a woman coat. I don't have a long waist so someone better proportioned might find it short.

Good for layering/ not good alone

Before I owned this jacket I had a Patagonia down sweater which I love. I only wanted to purchase a new jacket, because my down sweater is a very bright, loud orange.
So I bought this jacket in black. I have a few other jackets (Atom LT, Codetta, Kappa) from Arc'teryx that I have been super happy with, so I thought I would like the Cerium LT.
I did not like the fit. I am very tall, so it is hard for me to find clothing that fits my body well in general. The center-back length is short, but the sleeves are long. I like that the sleeves have a cuff seam at the end. There isn't a pocket in the inside chest like there are on most tech jackets.
I did like the little stuff sac that comes sewn into the pocket. That was great for travel and storage.
It is SUPER light if that matters to people.
The fabric is not water resistant! I know that down jackets are not meant to be worn in rainy conditions, but the fabric saturates so fast and easy.
It honestly wasn't a great insulator either. I thought that the 850 quality down would keep me ultra- warm. I would wear my Cerium and my Atom LT together quite frequently to keep warm.
Some of the down punctured through my sleeve as well. To me that is either a manufacturer defect or a misrepresentation of the product. If this jacket had 850 fill down, there would be no feathers that would have quills that could puncture through the material. I tried to submit a warranty claim and they only said they would repair the hole for me for a fee. I patched it up with some gear tape for the time being (that is some good stuff to have).
I was finally able to buy a new jacket, and purchased the Patagonia Hi-Loft down jacket. It filled with 650 down quality, but the baffles are filled a lot more. The length is excellent and proportionate throughout the jacket. I am able to wear it alone and stay warm. I am very happy I went back to what is tried and true.
Arc'teryx is awesome at making technical gear, but they are not the best out there when it comes to down products.
