Atom SL Hooded Insulated Jacket

Building off the legendary versatility of the Atom LT Hooded Jacket, the Arc'teryx Men's Atom SL Hooded Insulated Jacket retains the LT's multi-use functionality, all while shaving 20-grams of Coreloft insulation to achieve a lightweight layering piece that's ideal for summer adventures. In fact, you'll find the Atom SL Hooded Insulated Jacket saves approximately 3.5-ounces over the LT, making it better suited for lightweight alpine hikes and minimalist peak-bagging missions in the summertime. Coreloft Compact 40 synthetic insulation retains body heat on those chilly summer mornings and evenings. This insulation is highly compressible, lending itself to easy storage within your pack.

Leveraging Arc'teryx's Tyono 20 shell fabric, the Atom SL Hooded Insulated Jacket remains lightweight and surprisingly durable. The shell's DWR treatment repels outside moisture from passing showers, ensuring you stay nice and dry through all but torrential downpours. Boosting air permeability where you perspire most, Torrent fleece side panels substantially increase ventilation and overall flexibility during high-octane pursuits. Additionally, mesh lining along the sleeves boosts next-to-skin comfort.

Refined over previous offerings, the No Slip Zip enhances core ventilation without inadvertently opening during rigorous activity. It works like a series of speed bumps, preventing self-opening when it's partially unzipped. Other design-savvy features include two zippered hand pockets, an adjustable, low-profile Storm Hood, and shaped cuffs with stretch fleece. There's also an adjustable hem cord for sealing out chilly drafts and blustery conditions.

  • Ultralight insulator suitable for summertime alpinism
  • Insulated core adds a touch of breathable warmth
  • Stretch fleece sides warm, wick moisture, and dry quickly
  • Mesh-lined sleeves enhance ventilation and moisture management
  • Tyono 20 shell is water- and wind-resistant

I want to have more of these

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

A jacket with a very wide temp range, whether it's used for layering in the winter or a late night summer bbq. When wet, it dries fast and doesn't bunch like down jackets. It packs small and is definitely my favorite.

What a wonderful jacket.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

A little tight to my chubby belly. Used it in 70 degree with a slight gust. Kept me warm. Very breathable. Good standalone jacket. Great quality. But 1 might be enough.

What a wonderful jacket.

Fantastic

Love this thing. One of my favorite purchases.Holds warmth, keeps me comfortable, and works as a fantastic durable piece.

BEST PIECE OF GEAR

  • Size Bought: Medium.

This was the best item I own, not supper warm (obviously cause it's the SL version). But holds in warmth and vents super well.

not to hot, not to cold, just right

When you only want just enough.

    Great jacket for varying conditions

I run in this and plan to try it out on my nordic outings this winter. It's an awesome coat that protects against the wind and rain.

    • Size Bought: Medium

Atom SL fits great, is light enough to wear at basically all times and has been my go-to jacket this fall. I wear it basically every day to work, use it for mountain biking and hiking and only take it off when cooking. Highly recommend.,

    Perfect spring/fall option!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large

Looking for a jacket that isn't too hot, but will keep you warm on a spring or fall day? here you go, the Atom SL hooded jacket is your best option. Lightweight at 9 oz, stretch side panels for breathe-ability, and 40g of compact coreloft make this your favorite jacket you own. The fit is slim, but don't size down. It is very durable and holds well in variable conditions

      Arcteryx sizing has become "Americanized

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Size Bought: XL and Large

I used to love Arcteryx because it had a more European fit, and for someone with my build it fit perfectly. I'm 6' 3", 185 lbs with long arms, and I could consistently buy Arcteryx XL and have a perfect trim fit. Now, Arcteryx has gone the way of Patagonia, sizing larger and larger for American chub on the waist. Now almost anything in XL fits in the shoulders and arms but is baggy and sloppy in the torso. If I order Large the sleeves are too short and the waistline rides too high. Therefore I pretty much can't buy Arcteryx anymore. Bummer because I have loved and worn the brand for a long time. I ordered this jacket in both sizes and neither fit.

I have been concerned about this, its been almost two years since I bought my last jacket from Arcteryx, and I am wanting some new gear. I am 6'3", 225lbs with a 32" waist, but a 50" chest, so I am lost as to what size to buy...

"Now, Arcteryx has gone the way of Patagonia, sizing larger and larger for American chub on the waist. "- I disagree. You just have a nonproportional body type at 6'3" 185lbs. I'm 6' 185lbs with a 33/34 waist and the L fits perfectly in a slim fit way.

Interesting, I'm 6-4, 185, 36in Sleeve, and my buddy's M fits perfectly when I tried on. Maybe go down one more. I have the AR and LT in L, but will probably go M here.

The perfect super light wind piece

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

The Arcteryx Atom SL is my go to piece for a running or any sort of exercise where i just need a little bit of extra protection from the wind or elements.

      active jacket breathes just enough

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

I wanted this jacket for months and found it on sale here at backcountry. I had hoped that this would help cover the gap from windbreaker to light winter jacket like atom lt or patagonia nano puff hoodie and it does that and more. More breathable than my light weight windbreaker but softer and not crinkly feel of windbreakers with a hint of insulation in the body and the arms have a venting strip. This thing is awesome to run in from 20deg F to 50deg F. It is the best high activity jacket I have ever owned or used. This jacket shows its strength with activity and as it becomes colder with less activity you would be better off with something else or add insulation under it. Because it lets just the right amount of air through it I would not choose it for extreme winter environments where a proper shell is required but for everyday chilly morning runs I am loving this jacket. I bought a XL to be a little roomy to add light base layer insulation. Also love the hood, my ears get cold easy so some mountain bike rides I put it on just for my ears.

      active jacket breathes just enough

      Perfect Mid Weight Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the perfect mid weight jacket. Perfect for when the temps are right on the boarding of being to hot, but to cold for a t-shirt. This jacket packs down to nothing, so its perfect for keeping in your day hike pack or in your hydration pack for biking to pull out when the temps drops. I am 6'1" 195 lbs and the large fits perfect even with my long arms. I love this thing!!!!

Great jacket for an Alaska summer

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Size Bought: Large

The SL has excelled at everything I have used it for. From Fly Fishing, Biking, Rafting, Hiking.

      Slim fitting

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Bought the medium. I’m 5-11” 155lbs 39” chest and 29” waist. The fit is pretty slim fitting especially in the torso. The torso is also short. I wouldn’t recommend sizing up because the sleeves are very long and no way to cinch them. I use this as a base layer under my fleece since it’s pretty wind resistant but tight fitting.

The heftier Atom LT is my favorite mid-weight synthetic jacket of all time. For years now I've wanted to find a similar jacket that I can do my cold weather runs in, that provides just as much comfort and reliability as the LT. Well, it's here! The Atom SL is the little brother of the Atom LT. It's silly light, breathable, and the perfect piece to add to your quiver if you're into self-propelled pursuits like trail running or mtn biking.

Jimmy, you're pretty much my size, virtually spot on. I usually have to buy an XS in arcteryx jackets. I was going to order this in an XS from another site since you guys didn't offer it in a XS. How do you find the S fitting? I'm looking for something a little more form fitting, as i will wear this with a t-shirt or form fitting long sleeve underneath. Thanks.

      Always with Me

This is a jacket that everyone should have for high aerobic cold weather pursuits or as a summer emergency piece. It's ideal for touring, climbing, trail running, backpacking, and any number of other endeavors. Basically, this piece has replaced all of my fleece and lightweight insulation pieces and is the main staple in my layering kit. The fit is trim but not tight, the insulation is perfectly mapped out, and the fabric feels great and breathes well. My favorite feature is the hood - it cinches up perfectly when wearing without a helmet and fits nicely under a helmet. It's also fantastically designed for mobility, making it a great option for climbing. Fit is true to size but you can size up if you prefer a little more length and a slightly looser fit (I did).

      Waist:
Measure around your waist at the narrowest part.
      Hip:
Standing with feet hip width apart, measure around your hips at the widest part.
      Inseam:
From standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.
      Sleeve:
With arm relaxed at your side and slightly bent, measure from center back neck, across shoulder to elbow and down to wrist.
      Crotch to Floor:
With bare feet, measure from your crotch down the inside leg to the floor.
