Never leave home without it.

Who needs a multi-tool when you've got the Arc'teryx Men's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket? Well, you don't—though, you might want to bring one along anyway (just in case). More specifically, the designers over at Arc'teryx made the Atom LT versatile enough to handle year-round mountain adventures ranging from climbing to skiing.

The Atom LT is constructed with a durable, breathable, and lightweight Tyono exterior, while the DWR treatment fends off light rainfall—meaning you stay relatively dry no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. To bolster its adaptability, the Atom LT is equipped with gusseted underarms and Polartec Power Stretch side panels to ensure an unimpeded range of motion whether you're wearing it as a midlayer or an external shell. Perhaps most importantly, though, is the Atom LT's synthetic Coreloft insulation. This synthetic insulation not only retains warmth in wet weather, but also offers maximum thermal efficiency without compromising the compressibility of the fibers. A StormHood slides over helmets with ease, and the adjustable hem provides a personalized, snug fit should you desire it.

  • A versatile, highly adaptive jacket for all aerobic activities
  • Tyono exterior is durable and wind-resistant for protection
  • DWR treatment sheds light moisture easily
  • Coreloft insulation keeps you warm even when wet
  • Stretch side panels promote unobstructed mobility
  • Articulated elbows and gusseted underarm bolster comfort
  • Helmet-compatible hood is insulated for added warmth
  • Adjustable hem provides a personalized fit and feel

Great jacket. I want more!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I live in the cold of southeast Idaho and I love this jacket. I use it as a top layer when going to class and a mid layer when I'm on the slopes at Grand Targee. breaths well and fits well. Wash in cold and hang dry or tumble dry it retains its form.

Great jacket not a huge fan of the cuffs

So I bought this last year and have used it quite a few times. Overall the jacket is great. It looks great, fits great, and performs well. My main complaint with it is the cuffs which are a very tight spandex-like material. After only a few uses the seams on the cuffs began tearing. This happened after the warranty period with Backcountry so unfortunately there wasn't anything they could do to help me. I was able to contact Arc'teryx and shipped the jacket to them for warranty repair. Repairs were free, just had to pay for shipping...still a bummer for a jacket that was only ~3-4 months old and had only been used a handful of times.

Since the fix, there haven't been any repeat issues.

a very good feeling jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

This is my first Arc'teryx jacket and I'm not disappointed. Glad I ordered the XL. The fit is just slightly snug so I won't be wearing multiple layers with it, but that wasn't my intention with this purchase; I just wanted to experience the Arc'teryx quality in a light insulated jacket. So far, it lives up to the reputation. I also have a Rab Xenon puffy with the Primaloft One insulation and this jacket is very similar in feel. I believe I made a good choice. Happy trekking,
Mike

My new favourite

Just got my Atom LT after using my Cerium LT religiously for my everyday/ ski jacket layer. The Atom LT was the perfect layer skiing this season in Australia with just a light thermal and my Alpha AR jacket. Was super warm and very comfortable. Have been using also as my everyday wear riding to work or on colder winter days and have found it to be warm and functional. My only gripe, is that the colour was not quiet the colour depicted on screen when pruchased from BC. I was expecting a super vibrant yellow, almost fleuro with the Lichen, but it is not a bright as depicted. Similar experience with my Cerium, but great pieces nonetheless, and not enough to take a star away.

The perfect layer

Fishing off the coast of Canada in fall, was the perfect layer. Went well under a heavy gore tex outer layer when it was pouring on us, and did great when it was just a mist-- wet enough to take off sunglasses but without being down, a little moisture wasn't an issue.

Very solid fit - like all arc teryx, fits snug but comfortable.

Atom LT for life.

This jacket is the best you can get with a hybrid option. It has Coreloft insulation in the torso, arms and hood. Then the side panels and underarms are Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology, which leads to it being extremely breatheable and mobile. I have used this jacket for camping, climbing, skiing, and nights on the town. It is durable, good looking, and the most versatile jacket on the market. The pockets feature a soft suede like material on the front to keep your hands nice and warm as well. The fit is as expected, and true to size with a slim cut. You need one of these I promise!

If you have to win one jacket - this is

I have had for 4 years and it is the jacket that I wear anytime any day anywhere. Really. Whatever you do - you can wear it and it will help you warm and looks great after years of use and abuse. The other reviewer is right I the dime.

    It’s been said before...

...but I’ll say it again. This is best jacket ever, and it’s my favorite go to item. I have it in multiple colors now because it’s so versatile. It can be worn from about 20 to 70 degrees comfortably, and it’s extremely cozy and stylish. It’s decent in light rain, snow, wind, etc and at home on a 14er or downtown. Highly recommend!

    SoCal Weather

This jacket is great for everyday insulation for various types of weather and I chose this over the Atom AR because I felt it would be more flexible with the warmer temperatures in SoCal. I must admit though I was expecting it to be warmer for colder climates when I went to the mountains that reached to ~28 degrees Fahrenheit - I had to wear a warm fleece to keep myself comfortable. But for regular outings like camping, climbing, or just out in the town there is no better jacket out there!

Has anyone had any problems with the zipper? I haven't worn it yet but just pulling the jacket open when it's half zipped, tends to unzip really easy.

Just concerned of it unzipping easily while doing things.

It's designed to be easily opened using one hand, without the other having to hold the other side. I know what you mean, but I really like how smoothly it opens. It shouldn't be sliding down on it's own, though.

My heigh is 5'5", should I go for the xs or small one? I also wanted to know how long is the jacket (is it hip length or like in the mid thigh)?

I am the same height and 135 lbs athletic build, size small is a perfect fit for me, it is hip length

Unsure about what size I should get...I am 6'0 170lbs with a slim/athletic build. I want to be able to wear a fleece jacket underneath this, so I was thinking a large, but I am not sure...

I'm built similar to you (6'1" 175lbs) and sport a medium in this jacket and would not be able to fit a light 100wt fleece under this comfortably. You would probably be better suited with a large if heavy layering will be used. It's a tad slimmer than say a similar Patagonia sized jacket, but works great with a long sleeve shirt or thermal. I love this jacket for it's weight to warmth ratio you will not be disappointed...

I agree with Philip, go Large in the Atom LT if you want to layer a fleece underneath. I am 6'1" 185 lbs and have this jacket in Large so feel free to shoot me any additional questions directly.

Kept me warm as we hiked along the Mediterranean Sea. Very durable despite its thin material and deceptively warm when doing any sort of activity.
