AltraTorin 3 Running Shoe - Men's

It Only Gets Better.

Ventilation is key when running or training in high temperatures, which is why the folks at Altra equipped the new Men's Torin 3 Running Shoe to assure better breathability as you rack up the miles on your run or tack on additional weights to your cross-training. Pliable, breezy, and hardy, the uppers complement the pronounced V-shaped last that you've come to know and love from Altra, which limits pressure points and gives your toes room to splay as much as they'd like with every stride.

That being said, the Torin is sleeker than before; however, the Torin 3 does feature the same EVA midsole, complete with grid-like flex grooves for unencumbered agility and movement. Ultimately, this construction gives the shoe enhanced energy response, shock attenuation, and support underfoot that can tackle tempo training or long runs alike. The A-Bound top layer promotes a somewhat springy feel, while the even stack height throughout the forefoot and heel offers a more natural midfoot landing throughout your stride. Additionally, the FootPod outsole has been updated to flex better with the tendons and bones in your foot, assuring a more comfortable transition.

  • A versatile shoe for running or training
  • Breathable upper promotes ample ventilation
  • Wide platform maintains a pressure-free fit
  • Midsole is complemented by springy inserts
  • Outsole flexes and enhances natural stride
  • Zero drop platform offers a smooth transition

Game changer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 10.5

These are my first pair of Altra running shoes and I'm super happy. (I purchased the casual Vali earlier in the year and the feel and quality convinced me to give Altra a shot as my runner) The cushioning is generous, but I feel no compromise of stability or control. The toe cap is quite rigid, however. I notice this while walking, but not running. I generally run short to mid distances solely for training so I can't speak to how this feature might affect a long haul. I have consistently gone with 11 in brooks in the past, but the wide toe box here allows me to go with my usual casual shoe or boot size of 10.5.

Love Altra!

The wide toe box is the best. I use these for runs of 5 to 20 miles. My feet feel more relaxed in these. I've owned several pairs of Torins and put I 400 - 500 miles on each pair. I'll keep buying them...

Great shoe

Great shoe for going mid distance to long. Good tool to have in between the Escalante and Paradigm. I needed a little more cushioning for my marathon (bad knees) and substituted for the Paradigms. The Escalantes have taken the place of my Torins recently for all short to mid distance runs.

Thanks for the review, Blake. It really helps our community. I have this shoes and I agree that it is good one, with a lot of cushion that doesn't affect your foot strike.

    Pretty cool!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

For running on the road, these are a great option. These really help with your natural stride, and have helped me with knee fatigue in the past.
