Altra made our long runs more enjoyable with the Provision 5 Running Shoe. The revamped heel locks us in for no-slip performance mile after mile, while the reworked upper and grooved midsole let our feet flex freely. The better fitting footbed sling stimulates our arch to discourage overpronation. Should our foot start to turn inward, the flexible Guide Rail fights against full collapse, giving us that added stability only when we need it.

Super happy with my new Altras!
Everyone on my Tri team is a total convert. They're light, mid-level cushion and I swear my pace is quicker ny 1/2 minute!

Great fit
These shoes have a wide toe part which is very helpful to me. I have neuropathy in my feet from a bout with cancer. These shoes so help with their support and fit

I love theses shoes!
I bought these Provision 5 shoes to replace my Provision 2 shoes. I use them for running, both shot & longer runs. The difference between the 2 & the 5 is amazing! These new Provision 5 shoes are super light and fit my small, narrow feet perfectly. I normally wear a size 5 in regular shoes and a 5.5-6 in sneakers or running shoes. I purchased the 5.5 size and they feel great. (I also have high arches) The shoes are great at handling my pronation and are fun to run in. I recently completed a 7-mile run in these shoes. The run went smoothly and my feet & legs felt good while running & when I was done. The only issue I had, which is a problem with every shoe, is hot spots. ( It doesn't appear to matter which socks I wear either, ie toe socks, regular running socks, thicker socks, etc) The shoes have a perfect mesh of cushion & stability. I purchased the Coral/Gray color. I love the color.I love the shoe.

Great for my narrow feet
I almost always have used insoles with my fitness shoes, in part bc they take up space and I have such a narrow foot. I wanted to switch to a more minimalist show and gain strength back in my foot and ankle. These are perfect and I super appreciate that I can actually find a show that works with my narrow foot. I saw some reviewers complain about that, but it's what guided me to these shoes! Narrow footed people need shoes too!

Comfortable with Good Support
The Provision 5 was comfortable and provided good support right out of the box. No break-in period needed! A wonderful athletic shoe that provides plenty of cushion and helps with my over-pronation. If I could have Altra change just 2 things I'd give 5 stars for sure. The tongue does not stay in place, even laced using the tongue slits because they are too high on the shoe tongue. The laces are too short to really work well when the last/highest lace holes are used for optimum support. Please fix these two issues, Altra, so I can love my next pair with all 5 stars!

Almost, but not quite. Too narrow in the forefoot
I always purchase Altra's at a size of 8.5 women's. This is 1/2 size larger than any other brand I buy and that is standard for Altra. This pair is no different. They fit (length-wise) the same as my Paradigm, Olympus, Timp and Lone Peak shoes. 8.5. Note: I wear inserts will all of them except the Paradigm. I have multiple pairs of Paradigms because that supportive style works well for me. I wanted to try out the redesign of the Provision because I wanted the support but a little but less cushion. The Provisions are great. Responsive, light, nice cushion. The heel is also nice and snug Unfortunately, the forefoot, particularly at the junction between the phalanges and metatarsals, is too narrow. So, you still have decent space in the front of the toe-box but then the shoe narrows down and your foot spills over the outsole. Not comfortable and not supportive. A larger size addresses this issue but results in a sloppy fit everywhere else.

Less pain
I bought these because I have a bad case of metarsaligia if that's what it's called. The doctor wants to shorten two of my foot bones and lengthen another! He recommended that I buy a pair of these to help take weight off the ball of my foot. The do that and it lets me walk my dogs now with less pain. I give them a thumbs up.

A surprise love affair
I wear Altra shoes almost everywhere I go. We had to stand in line for an hour on concrete pavement to attend an outdoor concert recently and my new Provision 5 shoes helped immensely! I felt no low back pain or leg pain! I like that they feel like a hybrid blend of the moccasin-like feel of Altra Escalante and a more solid Altra Paradigm. The heel back holds up when I slip on the shoe without untying first. The lining feels more securely attached, too.

Love these new shoes!
this is my first pair of Altras and it will not be my last! They were recommended for me because of the generous toe box. I walk (not run) and routinely put on 5-10 miles a day 3-4 times a week. I would have given the shoes 5 stars however, the lace slit on the tongue is oddly placed and misses the lace crossovers. Consequently, the tongue slips sideways.

So good got another pair!
I bought my first pair of these in May after running for a year in the Provision 4. I love the upgrades that were made to this shoe, the most obvious being a slot on the tongue to put the laces through so it stays in place and a pull tab on the heel for ease of getting them on. They are still as light as the 4s and have the perfect amount of arch support and toe box width. Not to mention the colors are fantastic. I just purchased a second pair to replace my first in preparation for fall races!
