Step off the paved path and explore more rugged terrain with the help of the ALPS Mountaineering Journey Trekking Pole. This lightweight, all-around trekking pole has a Fast-Locking lever system that makes on-the-go adjustments a breeze. An anti-shock system takes the sting out of pole plants on rocky trails, and the EVA handle and auto adjustable strap ensure comfort and security during long adventures.

    • 7075 aluminum shaft
    • EVA handle
    • Adjustable length with Fast-Locking system
    • Anti-shock system
    • Auto adjustable strap
    • Tungsten carbide tip with removable protection cap

    Not worth it.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'd give these three stars (meaning they get the job done) if you could lock or adjust the anti-shock spring. It's WAAAY too loose. After hiking with two of them for just a few miles, my hands were sore from the handle slamming into the end of the anti-shock on every step.

    Durable and light

Used a set on the AT in Pennsylvania for a forty mile section. This covered the rocky section of the NE. No collapse of the poles with heavy use and weight bearing. Great value at less than $30 for a pair.

      Depends on the user

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Light weight. Appears to be durable. The locks need to be checked before each use. The anti-shock mechanism can not be turned off so some people will not like this pole when going up hill.

      Great Deal

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

You can not beat this price for a good hiking pole I would suggest you buy 2 but I have some members of my hiking group who like hiking with one pole in general I find Alps products to well made ...

      great deal

for the price you can't miss. I am 5' and they are comfortable for walking in town, but haven't gotten out on the trail yet. Rubber tips do not stick well on smooth surfaces, may need to be replaced. They don't feel heavy. I like the easy lock system.

        Be careful!!

The description of the item is as follows:
          "ALPS Mountaineering Journey Trekking Poles"

This is for 1 pole not 2. I called to question the mistake and was told they would be glad to sell me another one and send it me.... What a joke....

          Be careful!!

          But is it heavy?
