A better backcountry bed.
You can add a touch of extra insulation to your sleeping bag with the soft Alps Mountaineering Fleece Bag. The rectangular shape fits inside mummy or rectangular bags, and the polyester fleece provides warmth without adding a ton of bulk to your backpack. You can even use it on its own if you're sleeping in warm spots, so you don't have to bring a big, heavy bag with you.

- Q & A
Basically a thick fleece blanket!
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
This would be a great option for cold weather car camping, when you can afford to keep around a bulky bag liner. However, I was thinking it was going to be more of a micro-fleece that wasn't quite as big and bulky, so I ended up returning. I'm sure this liner adds a bunch of warmth and comfort, since it's basically a blanket, but it's definitely not for your minimalist endeavors haha!
Gets the Job Done
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Durable, spacious and multi-functional, car camping only
I pulled the trigger on this because it was the only available option and because it was on sale. It is quite bulky and I would only use it for car camping (although I guess most people aren't hiking and camping in very cold weather anyway. That said, it's quite a nice quality fleece. If you are a cold sleeper, it will not only keep you warm, it also provides a nice buffer between your body and the plastic-y material that most modern sleeping bags are made of. It unzips all the way around so it doubles as a blanket. Maybe for your lap around the fire. I would prefer that it had a hood with a cinch (even though it's rectangular. This is quite a roomy liner, suitable through plus-sizes. Seems like both the material and zipper will last a very long time.
I wanted a fleece liner for awhile. I say this one on sale and jumped at it. It's very soft. The only thing I don't like about it is you can fell the zipper all the way around. I wish they could have made the zipper smaller it used something to cover the zipper up from the inside. Other then that it's nice and warm. Adds the extra warmth to your sleeping bag.
Good for warm weather car camping
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The whole family used these for a 4 night trip to Houskeeping Camp at Yosemite. They were warm enough for most of us to not need anything else, and definitely roomy enough. The tag says to hand wash or use a commercial heavy-duty front load washer but we've washed them a couple times in our front load washer and they seem fine.
What is the deal with this, i haven't seen any reviews, would it work for summer camping, say getting down to as low as 45, and could i put a bag liner in it to make it warmer?
