    The perfect compression stuff sack for wet environments, the ALPS Mountaineering Dry Sack is a must-have for paddling and hiking trips. Crafted from tough 70D nylon, the Dry Sack features Air Control, which is a waterproof air permeable fabric that allows you to compress air out without letting water in. This high tech fabric gives you the ability to fully compress the contents while maintaining it's waterproof integrity. Plus, it even has a rubber bottom handle for easy transport when you're moving locations.

    Can't squeeze air out like Sea-to-Summit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    Bought this one as a replacement for my missing sea-to-summit dry sack with eVent. I can easily squeeze air out of the waterproof breathable fabric on sea-to-summit but nothing came out from this ALPS mountaineering dry sack. I bought two and both share the same issue so I end out returning both. That's a real pity.

    5 Star for Backcountry.com customer service but only one star for the product itself.

    Undersized

      Nice bag with heavy duty straps that inspire confidence.

      The volume specification isn't accurate,. The measurements listed are for the bag unrolled. In use, the wide web strap at the top of the bag would be folded over at least twice and then you'd clip the ends together, further decreasing the space. At the end of the day you're losing 2-3" of bag space before compression. This bag's main competitor, the Sea to Summit E-Vent compression bag takes this into consideration, so their bag unrolled measures 2-3" longer than the quoted spec.

      That said, it's a quality bag for a great price on sale. The lower volume could be a positive or negative depending on your specific need.

      Wish I'd found these sooner...

        XL perfectly holds my Sierra Design Front Country sleeping bag. Wish I'd found these sooner. Packing for extended car camping will be so much easier with this. Probably going to buy some more for clothes. Can't speak to waterproofing as they'll probably never not be in another dry bag while floating.

        Waterproof?

        Bought a couple of these for a trip to the narrows. They're great compression sacks, but not convinced they are 100% waterproof. My husband and I both used these for our sleeping bags and on day 2 of the trip submerged the bottom of our packs crossing chest height water. The bottom of our packs got soaked. My bag was still dry, but my husband's sleeping bag was definitely wet in spots.

        Update! Tore the compression strap off of one of these while up a mountain...not super durable especially considering I only got to use it 4 or 5 times

        I needed a compression sac to keep my sleeping bag dry on my overnight hike in the Narrows, this did the trick and actually compressed my bag more than the original compression sac it came with. The entire bag took a dunk and kept the sleeping bag dry, even though the pack stayed wet the remainder of the hike.
