Grab a cold one and sit your romp in the sturdy and comfortable ALPS Mountaineering Big C.A.T. Camp Chair. This steel frame chair with durable polyester fabric won’t buckle or break if your gal or guy decides to sit on your lap thanks to the C.A.T.’s 500-pound capacity. This easy-to-carry chair fits snuggly into the shoulder carry bag (included), and it comes with two beverage holders in case you’re double fisting. The Big C.A.T. is perfect for your kid’s sporting events, football tailgating, or camping trips.

    • Powder-coated steel frame resists rust
    • Durable fabric with 500-pound capacity
    • Cup holders on each armrest
    • Shoulder carry bag included

    Uncomfortable

The front of the seat is too high for an average to big guy - tight against the back of your legs, and the back pushes you too far forward. The only way I could relax was to tilt the chair back with my feet propped up. Weird, I've had many of this style camp chair over the years, and this is the only one like this. Maybe the one I got was defective? After 10 minutes I packed it up for a return.

      Happy Camper

Great camping chair. Seems very durable and built to last. Like the adjustable arm rests. Narrow but worked well for me. Would buy again.

      Big...cat?

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This chair is certainly sturdy, but deceivingly named. I mistakenly made the assumption that the "Big C.A.T." would be a moderately above average sized camp chair for a human with optional double fisting accommodations. I am familiar with the word "big." But I have never seen the letters "C.A.T" arranged in such a way. Maybe C.A.T. is an acronym that I'm unfamiliar with. Maybe this chair is for a cat. A big cat could undoubtedly be comfortable in this chair. If you had your own big chair, without cup holders, both you and your cat could sit at a fire and have drinks. If you are a human looking for a camp chair that can be accurately described by the adjective that the manufacturer chose to put in the name of the chair, keep looking. This chair is for cats.

      A solid car camping chair!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had a similar camp chair in terms of the same structural design like this one, however the only difference was that I bought it for probably 10 bucks at Walmart. Didn't last long, wonder why...
Anyhow, after much toying and going back and forth with what camp chair I wanted, I decided to go with this one, and it doesn't disappoint. It's a very sturdy and durable chair, and quite comfortable too after using it after a long day of doing stuff out in the wilderness. All around, a great car camping chair!

Very Sturdy for a good price

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are nice sturdy chairs for the price. They feel like they will last for years. My only compain is that they are very upright and could possibly be more comfortable.

      Super durable.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing is made to last.

      Sturdy

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a study chair, which is why it is a bit heavier. It is not the comfiest chair, fit is a little narrow and there's not a lot of give to sink back into. Really like it, but got a different ALPS chair (Full back) and it is much more comfortable.

      Great Chair

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Nice comfy chair. We use it for my son's sporting events. Packs easy, not to heavy. They are over a year old and they look new.

      sturdy chairs

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are some solid and durable chairs. As noted in other reviews, they are much heavier than standard cheap folding camp chairs, but if that's not a critical feature you need, the durability and quality construction are good trade-offs for the weight. A common complaint is also the narrow seat width. I can see what people are saying, but it hasn't been an issue for me. If you need a chair that will accommodate a significantly wider than average body size, this probably isn't your best choice. We've used these chairs for car camping, riverbank fishing, and backyard bonfires. For activities like those, I'd give the chair 5 stars. The bulk and weight make them harder to use for boating or for any activity that requires carrying them along with other gear very far, which is why I gave them 4 stars overall.

      Great for car camping!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I recently purchased two of these chairs for camping and so far we love them! They are easy to get in and out of the carrying bag, they have two cup holders, they are sturdy and they are comfortable! I would definitely recommend these for car camping!

seat is narrow - big only for a child

Seat is narrow - not big.

        Solid!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We were looking for a few chairs to use with our camping setup in the Taco. A bit heavy, but if you're not taking it far, then it is a solid choice. The adjustable arm rests are a plus, along with the dual cup holders.

        Very sturdy

A little heavy but, extremely sturdy. Great for car camping etc.

          Slightly heavier, but more durable...

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

so it's worth the extra weight. Good for fireside fun or tailgating. Love the 2 cup holders, although I wish they were slightly bigger to hold some larger mugs.

          nice chair

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Durable, makes you sit up straight, I don't like those chairs that makes you feel like your saggin in on the chair. It's height is great so makes it easy to get up and running quickly

          Great Chair

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The back is plenty high to make for comfy campfire sitting.

          Big but not comfy

It has a very sturdy frame which is good but makes the chair stiff and not comfortable for lounging in.

            ALPS Mountaineering Big C.A.T chair

Past experience has led me to Alps Mountaineering for any and all purchases of camping chairs. I chose these as they are relatively compact when folded up and yet extremely heavy duty. Being 6'4" and 220 pounds, I want a chair that I know I can trust not to collapse during use. My main use for these is for trail lunches while out exploring off road in our Jeep, Tthey are plenty comfortable back in the campsite as well. I highly recommend these for any one that is looking for this type of chair.

Thankyou, that review just sealed it for me! Was looking at the kingkong option but it sounds like these are a sturdy model
