Molto penne!

Da Vinci invented just about everything, but backpacking meals were a little bit out of his range, so Alpine Aire whipped up its Leonardo Da Fettuccine as delicious tribute.

Good Carb Packed Meal

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. A great hot meal before hitting the sack and replenishes the energy stores.

Tasty Trail Food

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Had this for my first night out on a backpacking trip. I used the recommended amount of water and it was a little thin, but it was tasty and cheesy. Would have made a great side dish with the trout we caught the next two nights.

Great Pasta

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Alpine Aire did not disappoint with this one. It rehydrated well, and had a pretty good ratio of pasta to sauce. I actually thought it could have been a bit saltier, but all in all I really enjoyed the meal.

Name is better than food

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I liked saying the name "Leonardo de Fettuccine!" more than eating it. Did the job but there are options that I enjoy more.

Good but not great...

Ok so if you're in the backcountry and need some hot chow, this will do. that said the flavor isnt great, had to add lots of hot sauce for flavor and even then it was just noodles. You would def be better off with the forever young mac n cheese, uses the same noodles as this but the sauce is wayyyyy better.

    Easy camp food

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Disclaimer: all my food reviews will be after I've been out in the middle of nowhere for a few days, mostly eating bars, so anything hot is going to be the best meal of my life.
I'd recommend letting it sit with hot water for an extra 5 minutes at least to make sure everything gets cooked.

    Delish!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

One of my favorite meals on a recent hike - made gale-force winds and dumping rain a little less suffer-festy. I added a bit less water and let it sit for a few extra minutes - sometimes the noodles don't fully soften if it isn't fully stirred. If you prep is correctly, this is a great camping meal! The packaging is pretty compact but you can cut the excess packaging to make it fit into bear containers. Even though the package says two servings, you WON'T want to share this if you've put in the mileage - oh, and the mushrooms are AWESOME! I will most definitely be purchasing this meal again for backpacking trips.

    Pretty Yummy

Took a couple of these on a recent backpacking trip to Norway. Decently yummy, ate with some smoked salmon. Would definitely buy again maybe add some hot sauce!
