Home or abroad.
The clean, minimalist style of Alchemy's 30 Litre Zip Access Daypack suits it to accompanying you to a wide range of locales: heading to class, clipping in for your morning commute to work, or wandering around a city abroad with no set agenda. Though it appears simple on the outside, this daypack comes with a functional, rather than fashionable, focus.
Features like an allover PU-coating and YKK's AquaGuard zippers ensure the pack repels rain on wet days, keeping everything from maps and guidebooks to homework protected. On the back panel, Alchemy blends plush EVA foam with airy mesh panels, providing support and breathability whether you're riding on a sunny day or walking around sightseeing for hours. The supportive fit is complemented by a waist strap to take some of the load off of your shoulders, because sightseeing with a sore neck never does anyone much good.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
If you're looking for a backpack that screams "pricey," or one that makes people double-take on the street... well, keep looking. This pack is something you won't really appreciate until you've used it a few times––likewise, only after really looking at it for a few minutes will anyone notice its quality.
That was precisely what I was looking for, but boy did I hit the jackpot with everything else. Each detail on this thing is meticulously designed and constructed: I've yet to come across something that "isn't quite right" or "could've been better." Waterproof zippers and a robust outer fabric make me confident it can take day-in-day-out abuse (and indeed, it's already weathered rain, sleet, and snow like a champ.) The seatbelt webbing and metal buckles are those touches that assure me the pack will shine for years to come.
Finally, the storage: it may not look like it fits a whole lot from the outside, but opening up the main compartment immediately dispels that concern. There are also two, perfectly-sized outer-pockets with zippered-openings that are recessed into the fabric (no chance of rain getting in through the zipper), and the separate laptop-pocket is just a beautifully thought-out detail.
Understated, bombproof, and spacious––what more could I want?
