Adidas Outdoor Terrex Scope GTX Hiking Shoe - Men's
Stability and grip for long, technical approaches.
The Adidas Outdoor Men's Terrex Scope GTX Hiking Shoe provides surefooted grip and stability as you approach remote crags or scramble over jagged trails and loose rocks. This technical approach shoe uses a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane to keep your feet dry and comfortable in the wettest of conditions. The OrthoLite insole wicks sweat away from your foot with its open-cell structure for superior moisture management.
AdiPrene heel cushioning absorbs shock for a more comfortable trek over rough terrain. Using a Stealth rubber outsole originally developed by climbing shoe manufacturer Five Ten, the Terrex Scope GTX securely grips wet, slippery surfaces, ensuring you won't slip en route to your climbing destination. In addition, this shoe has an asymmetric heel loop, allowing you to clip it to a carabiner and attach it to a harness when you climb.

...So they should be treated like such. I find it funny how people talk about these shoes falling apart or they aren't comfortable. You obviously did not do your homework and try to base your purchase on the fact that they're expensive and come from a "sport" brand so you can treat them like garbage and they'll be fine. People need to think otherwise. I have had my lows for over a year now, and my mids for about 4 months. I purchased these because they are a more suitable upgrade to the Five Ten Guides, which I also love and treat with the utmost care, and they have gone the distance. I just did 50 some odd miles through the Grand Canyon in a storm, mind you, and the mids were perfect not one drop into my dry footsies. Scrambling and maneuvering through talus are these bad boys' specialties, put on some crampons and any simple Sierra Nevada peak is done in comfort. I also manage to boulder fun <V1's with these, low or mids. Joshua Tree monzonite does wear the soles down, but I was able to find a local cobbler that can resole them with the Stealth Dot Tread. Haven't done so yet, but knowing that option is there, has me not worried about how often I take them out in the real world. I don't believe the bad reviews. They do fall apart if you leave them in your car in heat and the glue will come undone, just like any climbing shoe (or shoe for that matter,) and in the same sense, they must be broken in to achieve maximum comfort. I hope Adidas continues to make them, and I will continue to run them wherever I go.
I've only been on a few hiking trips but the grip is insane. I purchased it because of a good review from a magazine. I do agree the sole is stiff, a small toe box and the look may not be for everyone but once broken in, I think these are great. The stealth rubber works.
I thought a sport shoe company's fit and comfort would translate into their outdoor line, but I was wrong, these were very uncomfortable. Sending them back.
Shoe and Customer Service Fell Apart

Shoe was pretty good for about 10 hikes in front range of CO. Ultimately, the sole started peeling off in the front. Would have thought these shoes could have held up a bit longer.
Backcountry wasn't much better with customer service. Agent wasn't all too concerned about quality and just wanted to pass me off to Adidas directly. Adidas then passed me off to the company that distributes their shoes nationally, Agron. Agron had me fill out a form and take photos (pretty standard).I've sent off the documentation and am now hoping they'll replace the defective items. Backcountry's 30 day policy on gear is pretty light. Would have expected them to stand behind the products they sell a bit longer.
Overall, the shoes were pretty good up until they started falling apart. Going to start looking at other brands and online retailers.
