I don't know where you guys get your Klamath 55's, but I havent seen them for more expenisve than $120, nothing near $200! That would make it around 54% off, not 75%!

Great site though! Keep it up!

yes i have heard camp poopoo'd but own their products and am quite happy with them. And while T isn't needed for general mountaineering one bit, the fact that it is T rated shaft and pick, still at~ 16oz is great

Cant say i've had any experience with that axe but I like the company alot. I climbed ice on a pair of their AWAXs and my wife uses a pair of their cramps as well as their Quartz harness. They have a better track record for pick durability compared to BD from talking to locals around here that have used both, but that is the vert ice axes and I'm not sure it really will come into play in a general mountaineering axe. the all around T rating is nice overkill though.

that is a pretty good full-detail page on axes

i have occasionally heard camp brand talked down on, but then again black diamond and charlet/moser/petzle have both had recalls on crampons and the likes at various times, and i cant even think of an ice ax recall.

On my 3rd attempt I have successfully found someone in Ohio who knew what a whiskey old fashion is... or thought she knew. It was basically alot of whiskey and cherry juice, served in a gimlet glass with and orange muddled in the bottom. I gave her an A for effort and choked it down. I ordered a beer for seconds.

The waitress then insisted on repeatedly asking me if I wanted another glass of water before I left (I had already drank 2 due to dehydration from this morning's work) blah blah blah, yatta yatta yatta. I wish everyone knew how to drink like the fine folks of my home state! :D

That being said, I have been waiting for that ice axe to make a reappearance. I would like input from people familiar with alpine climbing on the thing. I'm afraid that it's going to reshow itself when I go see Ironman2 to kill some time. (if you can't tell, I am bored. and I we can't go back to the job site until midnight tonight)
