    Kids' costumes are more for adults than the kids. At least until the children get old enough to be consumed with a powerful lust for candy, then they're all about covering as much ground as possible and stocking up on the goods. My parents dressed me as the Devil one year for Halloween. I was very little and likely wouldn't have remembered their satanic costume for me if it hadn't been for a minor detail. They dressed me in red, set me up with horns and pitchfork, but I must not have looked devilish enough because they added a small, pencil-thin mustache using a Sharpie marker. As any frat boy who has woken up with genitals drawn on his face knows, that kind of marker doesn't come off easily. I had the mustache for at least a couple days, because I remember the grocery store clerk at our local Pick 'n Save asking me if I'd run out of shaving cream. No, I informed him. I had not.
