@ IskiPow: For you to say "I signed up for this alert system about a week ago... seems to work much faster than sacalerts.com for me" (Actually Get a Dollar Deal - Wednesday, October 28 2009, 02:40 PM) without disclosing your own affiliation... and further to downrate a competing web site or service while concealing -in fact- your personal, vested interest in cleansnipe.com is lying.

I like your site, personally. No one's complained thus far about you, tppiotrows1572323, and others hocking your wares here, but have some dignity and show some restraint before this Spam-feud between Ipowski/cleansnipe.com and tppiotrows1572323/sacalerts.com turns into a shooting war and someone shoots himself in the foot.

While there are no formal rules on this board requiring transparency or disclosure, or otherwise restricting outside links or advertisement on this forum, personal etiquette and ethical behaviour are encouraged, both here and in the AvantLink Terms of Use Agreement for Affiliates.

There's nothing wrong with informing other users here of services which may be of interest to them, either third-party or your own. SAC embraces "Customer Submitted Tools". (See "Alerts" link, top of this page.)

There's nothing wrong with you profiting as an affiliate partner through the Avantlink Affiliate Program. Among other benefits, Backcountry.com "pay(s) up to a $5 flat rate for every NEW customer referred that makes a purchase" at any of the ODAT sites you are yourself affiliated with. (See "Affiliate Reference..." link, bottom of this page.)

It's clearly disingenuous of you to misrepresent yourself as an (objective) uninterested party, while promoting your own web site or services over a competitor's web site or services. Plainly, it's unethical business practice for you to make claims about another web sites or service in this manner.

People make mistakes. This was an error in judgement on your part, and I'm sure you understand why you're being called on it. It's nothing personal. There's a slippery slope here which I'm sure many of us would just as soon avoid.

The site is a project I am working on.... one day I was like it would be sick if I could get all the deals in one place. So I put the site together. People seem to like it so far. I am working on a widget for Mac and PC that will have all 4 deals....... I am also working on a notification system where you put in what you want (I.E.) Mens > Jacket and when one pops up you get notified. If you have any other ideas let me know. Hit me up through the site. www.cleansnipe.com

Hey, that's a cool feature.

by IskiPow (15)

Never seen that - looks like its come up a few times at the higher price - www.cleansnipe.com/cheap-womens-clothing-sale/scapegoat-flux-jacket-womens.htm

by biohazard1 (8)

Just means you have to do your research. If people think it's a good deal they can buy it. I was just disappointed because I've been waiting for this jacket to come up on SAC. Just was hoping to pay less rather than more...

by Matthew Mio (1030)

now that should never be the case. It is a great price for the jacket but still SAC should be < or = to BC.com, never more--that seems kinda wrong to me!

by sacalerts.com admin (29)

Wow, you mean you signed up for your own site? Good job. By the way, it seems like you missed a couple of $1 items like the Ex Officio Migrator 1/4-Zip Pullover - Men's that went up on SAC yesterday, the Pacific Outdoor Equipment Inflatable on Monday and the Oakley Aviation Zip Sweater - Women's on Sunday, etc. You can check out the dollar menu to fill in your gaps...

by biohazard1 (8)

It's cheaper on BC.com than on SAC. nice.

by IskiPow (15)

I signed up for this alert system about a week ago www.cleansnipe.com/- I get an email and Text every time a dollar deal goes up - seems to work much faster than sacalerts.com for me

by sacalerts.com admin (29)

So I was working on my sacalerts.com tracker and noticed that after items were being listed, magically the quantity and time were increasing. It just happened with the snowboard bag on brociety and the headphones on WM.

Has backcountry always done this? or are they now adopting a system of positive feedback = if people are buying an item the quantity and time are dynamically extended.

Or...do they want people to panic because an item is close to selling out and make those impulse buys, only to add more on later.

Any thoughts?

Although the system does not seem to be working for me - I am bound and determined to win a $1 special.
Even if it is 2x mens underwear!

From the last post...

Even though I, along with many others, have been epically failing on these dollar deals, thanks for having any at all, SAC. I read a blog yesterday that said there haven't been any in a long time.

Just the fact that you (SAC) have these dollar deals is pretty awesome!

Thank you.

by ato3377308 (10)

Ok, I'm new at the SAC thing and this is my first encounter with dollar deals. Is there any way someone that has had success in the past would dish a nubie some advice? Tips for success? I tried two times and got a cookies error, which I still don't understand despite the previous blogs. Am I doing something wrong? I can't really see how anyone actually does this.

Can someone restore a fraction of my hope in humanity by sharing some info? Fat chance?

Or is the fat chance on actually getting a dollar deal?

by climbbetty952131 (16)

Man, i thought I had that last one, but SAC came back saying that I did not choose a shipping option b/c of that stupid free shipping thing did not load fast enough to get out of the way for the rest of the shipping options to show up!! can you believe it!?! Has that ever happened to anyone?

My shipping option always comes up as standard, never on basic.

by Matthew Mio (1030)

good job. i got the second one cause i was ready for it...first one..not so much.

anyone have a problem with things reverting to standard shipping instead of basic??

by hub2552754 (202)

Got both of the 1 dollor jackets today.

by Matthew Mio (1030)

is this the message you get, but with some red text saying maybe you don't have cookies on? cause i get that one too when im late on the dollar deals. also rule of thumb if you don't get the dollar deal on the first go--but come back to the main page and see it there--don't even worry about getting it then because i do believe it is gone and the page just can't update fast enough

you are not competing with 7000 or 10000 people. It has to be significantly less than that. Think of the many people who only use SAC alerts to tell them when each new deal has arrived--now you can categorically count them all out as by the time they find out about the dollar deals it is too late. think of all the people viewing SAC that are not at their desks or home or just have it open and are busy with other things. not everyone is a nerd like me and others monitoring SAC on a second screen.

For instance i leave my computer on all the time at home and has a page open to SAC right now, so is probably being counted as someone on the page -- but I am also on at work so..

just saying, there is hope.

One Deal at a Time

The deals are fat, so they sell out fast. You have to act fast or you’ll miss it, but don’t stress—as soon as one deal sells out, we kick off another. It’s back-to-back deals all day long. Learn more.
