Ridiculous shipping costs!
by mmo3358970 (2)
isn't this interesting how I can reply to all the topics posted by the staff but not to one posted by the user...Yes, i agree the shipping charges are just ridiculous! I would have bought at least 5 items, but didn't because it would cost so much in shipping. Very low life solution to make more money, just overcharge on shipping. I think i am done with this site. Oh and one more thing enough with Camelbak pack - you post it every hour - how many you got 200,000 made?
Ridiculous shipping costs!
by Alex (2)
I must say that I love the bargains and deals from Steep and Cheap, Tramdock, and the whole family of backcountry.com sites but the shipping costs are getting ridiculous! Standard shipping and handling costs for a pierce of clothing is $8.75. That number is approaching three times what UPS ACTUALLY charges for standard ground shipping and I know the added expense isn't in packaging when a jacket comes in a plastic bag type package.
I think i speak for a lot of people when I say that the high shipping costs are deceiving, irksome, and have discouraged me from making numerous purchases. Even when something is hugely discounted, the idea of $8.75 to ship a $15 t-shirt pisses me off because it seems like a real shady way to make some extra profit on a t-shirt.
SAC is starting to remind me of e-bay where you have a $10 item with $20 shipping! Using the shipping costs to recoup some $ on the discounts is not cool! I mean I could mail a 7 pound, using UPS ground, from anywhere in the lower 48 to anywhere in the lower 48 with package tracking for $8.63!
DD: The Time the Smart Girl Got in Trouble
by g3arjunk1e (420)
Everyone knew who the smartest girl was in our third grade class. We had an established pecking order, and Amanda sat at the top. Our teacher would call on her whenever no one else could answer a question no matter the subject. Those were really the only times she ever talked. Her parents took her out of class for a week to take her on a trip to Washington D.C. where she went to a bunch of museums, and she came back with a pencil from the Smithsonian that had a mirror on the top of it. A few days later our teacher stopped mid-sentence and said, "Amanda" while looking at the girl. She dropper her eyes and apologized, though no one knew what was going on. It happened a couple more times until our teacher lost it and finally screamed "Amanda!" at the girl and told her to go out in the hall--the punishment reserved for our worst offenders. I finally figured out that Amanda was bored and using the mirror on her pencil to shine light from the window into the all the dumb kids' faces.
