Can you zip two bags together?

Hey Jan,

this sleeping bag won't be able to be zipped together with another of the same bag as it only has one side zipper. Let me help you find a bag that works by emailing me at bsneyd@backcountry.com

Budget Bag of Awesome!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So the takeaway from this review should be that for the money, you aren't going to find a better bag. Great for Car camping, but not super light or compact for backpacking.
I have camped comfortably into the mid 40's (f) in this bag and have no doubt that it will keep me comfy into the mid 30's (f) I have only used it a couple of times but am happy with my purchase and would gladly make the same decision again.

Great value

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love ALPS gear because of their quality and affordability. This is a great, warm sleeping bag, especially for the price. Would recommend.

stylist sleep sack

quality bag. nice bright green color allows you to see it easier at night. warm as you would want it for 3 season camping. Zipper zips all the way up and you snuggle in there deep. not the most space efficient bag but it is warm.

    Pretty good

Bought this for my wife for some summer camping trips, not very compact but she seemed to still enjoy it

      Best Budget Bag!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Alps Mountaineering is amazing when it comes to quality gear for the person on a budget. This bag has kept me warm on numerous car camping adventures. It is comfortable and I feel like I have enough room to move around at night. If you are looking for a great sleeping bag for an amazing price, go for it!

Hey, I was wondering what size compression sack this would fit in? I was looking at the ALPS Mountaineering ones with 4 straps, but didn't know what size would be appropriate. Any guidance would be appreciated!

      Toasty toasty

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Keeps me toasty in 45 degree weather, love how roomy it is. Definitely not a backpacking sack but a great vehicle camping sack. Silky texture. Seems like it'll last if stored in compression sack (sold separately). Happy especially at the $50 price I paid!!

          Black Canyon Of The Gunnison

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Took this bag with me on my two week road trip thinking it would be a big help throughout most of my cold destinations, and it did until the night I spent at the Campground in Black Canyon. In my Alps Mountaineering tent, sweats, wool socks, thermal sleeping pad, snow falling on my tent, sleeping bag zipped up and Velcro strapped all the way up and all I could think about was how cold my feet at back still were. This bag definitely did not stand up to those conditions. And it was about 34 degrees out. All other spots it was fine. Just don't take this bag out to snowy areas.

          Perfect for Car Camping

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We took it on a car camping trip. It packs well and smaller than I thought, based on some other reviews here (although it is still suited for car camping). The night temperature was in the low 50s, so I slept with the bag open. It was comfortable. Looking forward to testing it in lower temps.

          True to Description

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm 6'2" and this sleeping bag is the perfect size. Snug for warmth and not too tight. It's large for hiking but breaks down nicely to pack away for car camping. I haven't put it to the "cold night" (under 45 degrees) test yet.

This bag comes with a stuff sack. Does it also come with a storage bag?

The stuff sack is basically the storage bag. Technically when your not in season you should store your sleeping bag hanging up to protect the insulation.

You might be thinking of the compression sack, which minimizes the size of the sleeping bag in your pack. That item is sold separately.

          Great for car camping

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great bag for car camping and comes with a tough and sturdy stuff sack for storage. I used it in the desert in early spring in southern Nevada and it definitely kept me warm for 45 degree nights. I wouldn't recommend this for backpacking as it is pretty bulky/heavy.

          Decent for the price

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked one of these up to have as a spare when friends come to visit. The bag is great for car camping or when packability/weight are not a huge issue. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise that this bag is on the heavier/bulkier end of things. You can backpack with it in a pinch, but it's going to take up a good bit of real estate in your pack. I have the regular size - it's quite generous in the chest/shoulders and fits me (albeit snugly) at 6'1". The 20 degree rating is maybe a little optimistic - this bag kept my friend comfy enough at around 30 degrees a couple nights ago but she said that was about the limit of how cold it would be good for.

Durability seems good so far and the fabric is pretty rugged. Zippers work well and don't have huge issues with catching the fabric and jamming. I expect this bag to take abuse in stride.

Overall, a good choice if you're looking for a spare to have around the house or a first bag for car camping on a budget. If you're looking to get a sleeping bag for backpacking, I would recommend trading up a bit in price for big improvements in weight and packability.

          Warm and comfy

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Have used it for car camping and so far so good. Keeps you warm and is comfortable. Doesn't pack super small in the sack.

Perfect for car camping, not backpacking

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It is really comfortable and soft, but a little bulky and heavy. I would not recommend it if you do backpacking.

I saw that this bag's zipper goes all the way down to the bottom. Does this bag mate? Can it be joined together?

          Best Answer

You can join them together but, they are not meant to be joined. Since they are mummy in shape, it wont be a perfect fit by any means the feet will stick out.
