Seek out constellations with your backpacking buddy from the comforts of the Alps Mountaineering Cosmic 2 Tent. Large, no-see-um mesh walls let you see the night sky and provide ample airflow for ventilated comfort in summer weather. The fly and floor have fully taped seams for wet weather protection from spring to fall.
The Cosmic's freestanding design includes superlight, super-slim poles for a quick-and-easy setup. There's an expansive vestibule in front of the large door that doubles as a dry entrance in rainy weather. Internal mesh pockets offer plenty of organization options for you and your guest, and Alps Mountaineering included a gear loft, guy ropes, and stakes for an easier setup and more storage.

- Q & A
I've been using the tent for most of a year. It's relatively easy to setup, and break down. Light weight... at least light enough for me to use as a back packing tent.
The low profile is very sturdy under high winds, and sheds rain well. It survived (with no damage) 40-50mph straight line winds and rain when our camp was hit by a Texas thunderstorm. A number of the other tents in our camp didn't fair as well.
The only reason this isn't a 5 star is it's really more of 2 season tent. The top half is basically mosquito netting. Great for warmer months, but provides no heat retention in cooler weather. If you are using this on colder camps, be sure and invest in a high quality sleeping bag.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I just took this tent on a 4 day backpacking trip down the Lost Coast and it preformed well above my expectations. The tent is light for the price and extremely easy to set up. I like that you can roll up the back to star gaze without having to get out of the tent. Set up and take down is pretty quick too. I'd definitely recommend this tent for everything from multi-day backpacking trips to car camping expeditions.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
We ran short of several models of closeout tents before I landed on this one. I gave it to my brother-in-law for a trip to Iceland and it served his purpose well. Probably not the most durable, certainly not the lightest, but a really solid option for the trip they took.
