- Garment Sizing:
- Backcountry.com gear refers to the size of the person for measurements, so take your own measurements to determine what size you should buy.
- Sizing Notes:
- The Women's cotton tees run small especially for larger busts. We suggest ordering a size up.
- How to Measure:
- For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
- Chest:
- Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
- Waist:
- Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
- Hip:
- Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
- Inseam:
- Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
- Sleeve:
- Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.

If you have a long torso, don't buy

This softshell is short in the waist. The back is extended but it's as long as the front should be. I'm 5'8'' and pretty fit so I got the small so it wouldn't be too boxy. The color is nice and this jacket looks pretty slick otherwise.
fits the bill

i was looking for a piece similar to arcteryx epsilon which i love but it fits a little boxy...i wasnt quite sure what size to order but i got xs and it is perfect(i'm 5'0 115)... room for close fitting layers underneath and the athletic fit of this jacket allows it to be a great mid layer. the epsilon has met its match. my first backcountry piece...i'm way impressed
Buy it!

My husband just got me this jacket for my birthday, and I'm already loving it. I wore it in 25 degree WINDY weather, and it did a terrific job of blocking the wind. It is more lightweight than some softshells, but the material is more flexible and softer than many others. It does run a little on the small size with a trim, athletic look - definitely fits like a jacket and not a coat, so I don't think you could layer too much underneath unless you went up a size. All in all, backcountry made a super comfortable, soft, attractive, and technical jacket with this one!
Great Jacket

A perfect fit, and very comfortable, you don't feel like your wearing a heavy/restricting jacket but still you get all the warmth you need!
Sizing is odd, but love it anyway

I'm 5'5" and 113lbs -- generally a size two or a size 0. The reviews said it ran small so I got a size small rather than an XS and the fit is...odd. It's big through the chest (but then I have none!), shoulders and arms but fits (almost tight) around the hips. But I love it anyway especially since it got it for a song on SAC. It's big enough that I can layer under it and it's sufficiently water resistant that I'd take it skiing or ice climbing on a clear day and not worry too much (although I'd also pack a real shell just in case). So far though I've only worn it to kick around town.
Athletic Fit.

Ordered this for my wife in a Small, and had to exchange it for a Med. The fit was a little too "athletic" for her. Fit was true to size in the chest, with a bit too much taper into the belly. Very nice softshell jacket!
